From personal experience I know this to be true but thought it was just old age creeping up. Now confirmed by research, it has been shown that drinking wine after 6pm will help you fall asleep earlier but will disturb your sleep in the second part of the night. So many people have said to me how they wake at 2 or 3am and cannot go back to sleep. When wine was stopped the sleep improved.
So better finish the bottle before 6pm I guess!
